GATE Clusters
Dwyer Middle School uses a ‘cluster’ approach for its GATE Program.
Students who are tested into the GATE Program are automatically placed into a GATE Cluster class for CORE classes (Language Arts and Social Studies).
Other students may be placed into a GATE CORE class if they meet ALL of the following requirements:
Teacher Recommendation from prior language arts teacher
Advanced score on their last Reading Test on the California Standards Test (CST)
A cumulative 3.5 GPA for their last language arts class for the previous year
GATE students are NOT automatically placed in math or science classes as a result of their GATE designation. Math placement is made on evaluating multiple measures of student achievement including: teacher recommendation, GPA, work habits, CST scores on the Math assessment, CAT-6 scores, etc.
If you have any questions about our GATE Cluster classes, contact your teacher or an administrator.
