KUDOS

Special Kudos from the Principal

Special KUDOS to Janet Doe!!!!!! Thank you soooooo much! To those who don't realize it, the DWYER DASH only happens because of Janet's dedication. She is the Queen of the Dash! So far in the last 2 years, $60,000 has been raised for technology at Dwyer by her efforts. Special thanks, also, to Diane Kutinsky, Teri Rodenas, Betsy Gregory, the DASH committee chairs. They do a tremendous amount of work, countless hours, and, most importantly, they keep Janet from going crazy!  Thanks to all the other folks who help out. Over 60 parents and community members made the VIP Party happen!! WOW! No one knows how much work goes into the DASH every year, but it would never happen without all of your help. We are well on our way to replacing one full lab again this year.

Thank you, as well, to Jody Clegg and First Team Reality for being our Gold medal Sponsor! Jody is a Dwyer parent and we appreciate her sponshorship this year.

It's an honor and a blessing to work with all of you...

Thanks Olivia and Gary!!

A special 'thank you' to our student, Olivia Covert, and our teacher, Gary Joyce, for winning our Technology Auction this year. The prize? Puppies! Olivia and Gary have each have a new family member, a new puppy. Thanks for contributing to our Dwyer Technology Fund!

And here they are!

Dwyer Just Named a 2009 California Distinguished School

I have some super news to announce. April 1, we received a call from the California Superintendent of Schools, Jack O’Connell, informing us that Dwyer Middle School  is one of only 261 schools in California to be named a 2009 California Distinguished School! We have come a long way from being a Program Improvement school just three years ago. It is very hard to move out of Program Improvement status for any Title 1 school, and it is rarer still to become a California Distinguished School once a school has been placed on PI status. I am overwhelmingly proud of the faculty and staff at Dwyer. They are outstanding professionals, and richly deserve this distinction. I am also proud of the incredible support we receive from our PTSA, our community of families, and the hundreds of volunteers and donors at Dwyer. Of course, the students are the real champions at the House of Scholars and Champions. Their hard work and dedication to their education is the cornerstone of our success, and the reason we are a Distinguished School. Congratulations to everyone in the Dwyer community!

KUDOS For Ricardo

Dwyer Middle School would like to honor its head custodian, Ricardo Rosales. On April 2nd at a special Board meeting, Ricardo was honored by the Orange County Department of Education as the 2009 Classified School Employee of the Year. Ricardo was chosen as the outstanding Maintenance and Operations employee from all Orange County school districts. He will represent all Orange County at the state Employee of the Year event. We are incredibly proud of Ricardo’s recognition as a wonderful employee and dedicated professional. Ricardo has been Dwyer’s ‘Good Sheppard’ through years of remodeling and construction. He is always ready to help at every function and event at Dwyer. He is the teacher’s best friend when the need something. He is a trusted volunteer at his church, and spends his spring breaks and summers on church missions in other countries. We are extremely proud of Ricardo, and we are grateful to have him at Dwyer.
